One of the world’s oldest dog breeds, sacred in Mexico for over 3,500 years. The Xolo was found across much of ancient Mesoamerica, especially in central and western Mexico, where it was revered by the Aztecs, Maya, and other cultures. Archaeological remains show its presence in regions like Colima, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and the Valley of Mexico.
Known for its hairless body, deep loyalty, and role as both companion and guardian. It comes in three sizes—miniature, medium, and standard—and is celebrated for its calm temperament, intelligence, and adaptability.
For some, the Xolo is beautiful—an ancient guardian of elegance and spirit. For others, it is strange, even ugly, a creature beyond the ordinary. Yet in this duality lies its power: neither beauty nor ugliness, only the eternal guide.
Today, the Xoloitzcuintle is recognized as a national treasure and cultural icon, representing resilience and heritage

In Aztec culture, the Xolo was considered sacred. It was believed to be a guardian of the living and a guide for the dead on their journey to Mictlán, the underworld.
The Xolo was considered a sacred gift from the god Xólotl, twin brother of Quetzalcóatl.
Xólotl entrusted the dog to humans so that, upon death, their souls would not be lost in darkness but guided safely into Mictlán, the Aztec underworld.
According to Mexica stories, the soul had to pass through nine levels of the underworld, a perilous journey lasting four years.
Xolos were often buried alongside their owners to ensure safe passage of the soul.
The myth of the Xolo is not just about a dog—it is about loyalty as a path to transcendence. The Xolo teaches that kindness and respect in life echo into eternity, guiding us beyond death.

To walk with Xolo is to embody loyalty, resilience, and guidance. The community of Xolo is not built on appearances, but on spirit—each member a guardian, each step a legacy.
